Bateman ( The Clamp ) was a big crowd favourite at Warrington RLFC . His tackling was excellent and was a great attacking centre . He also played for Cronulla in the NRL , which again showcased his talents . Playing RL enhanced Batemans talents .

It shouldn't be the WRU vs the regions, and yet it still is nearly 10 years after this dispute!

One of the best centres we have ever had.

I was more or less directly above the try line for this. I have never willed a ball to stay in field more in my life, or a player to keep chasing a ball more, or hoping a defender would keep hoping it would bounce out! The passion, hope, belief was overwhelming. Then Howley touched down and we could plainly see that long before the referee gave it. A great kick, a great chase, a match winning player. Ecstatic

I was there - put your face up to the screen, squint, tilt your head to the left... you still can't see me! But I was there and it was moment that will stay with me forever. What a match and what a moment. COYW!

Was at this game and remember the team warming up with Bowring yelling and arguing with some players. It at least seemed that way from the stands. I sensed a bad omen and the result doesn’t lie.

I remember watching the six nations in the 70's with my dad when it seemed all the Welsh team had to do to win was be there. I'm a 61 year old female btw.
